Tutor – Full‑Time, Term Time

About the role
Polaris Children’s Services is seeking a dedicated Tutor to join Lyttelton House School on a full‑time, term‑time basis. You will work in a supportive environment with pupils aged 5‑16 who have complex needs, helping them achieve academic and personal growth.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils' wellbeing, resilience and behaviour management.
- Collaborate with the Education Team to remove barriers to learning.
- Lead classes during PPA and provide cover for absent staff, with planning support.
- Deliver the enrichment ‘Golden Time’ activity.
- Provide in‑class support for academic, pastoral, emotional or behavioural needs.
- Respond promptly to immediate concerns and resolve situations appropriately.
- Create and collate data on lessons and interventions.
- Assist in preparing information for pupil‑related meetings.
- Champion the school’s ethos, lead reading and phonics progress reviews.
- Develop Pupil Voice initiatives and liaise with senior leadership.
- Build relationships with parents/carers and support transitions.
Required profile
- Minimum GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
- Sound IT skills.
- Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., HLTA) working with SEMH pupils.
- Confidence to take additional responsibility in a specific school area.
- Experience of behaviour management techniques.
- Commitment to professional development and willingness to learn.
