UK National Sustainability Officer Placement – 12.5 months

About the role

The UK National Sustainability Officer Placement offers a 12.5‑month internship within Airbus’s sustainability team, based in Filton, Bristol. You will gain a comprehensive overview of sustainability initiatives in a global aerospace leader and work on high‑profile projects that directly impact the company’s environmental and social goals.

Key responsibilities

• Project manage major initiatives such as Sustainability Week, the network of sustainability ambassadors, and introductory sessions for early‑career intakes.
• Shape the UK social value strategy by researching societal needs and collaborating with senior stakeholders, charities and NGOs.
• Deliver compelling communications, facilitating panels and presenting sustainability concepts to diverse audiences, including finance teams and over 300 early‑career peers.
• Champion cultural change by supporting volunteer groups focused on biodiversity, commuting and other corporate values.
• Provide strategic thought leadership, synthesising complex socio‑environmental issues to generate actionable insights.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree related to sustainability, environment, geography, international studies or a similar socio‑environmental field.
• Demonstrated experience in project management, stakeholder collaboration and delivering sustainability‑focused projects.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, strategic thinking and the ability to engage with executive management.
