UKAS Consultant – 2 days per week

About the role

This part‑time position supports a growing calibration business in achieving UKAS accreditation for autoclave and related equipment. You will work on‑site a few days each week, leading the accreditation effort while mentoring engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the UKAS accreditation process for calibration services.
• Implement and maintain procedures based on the existing Quality Manual.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.
• Conduct internal audits and support quality‑system implementation.
• Oversee calibration activities involving time, temperature and pressure measurements.
• Develop, review and apply uncertainty budgets.
• Interpret EN ratios for inter‑laboratory comparisons and perform drift analysis.
• Train, mentor and motivate engineers on the standard.
• Support continuous‑improvement and formal authorisation activities.

Required profile

• Strong working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
• Proven experience in calibration of time, temperature and pressure equipment.
• Solid understanding of uncertainty budgeting and drift analysis.
• Experience with inter‑laboratory comparisons and EN‑ratio interpretation.
• Ability to audit and implement quality systems effectively.
• Confidence in training and developing technical teams.
