Underwriter - High Net Worth - Existing Business

About the role

An established specialist Managing General Agent is seeking an Existing Business Underwriter to join its underwriting team in London. The role focuses on managing a portfolio of High Net Worth and Private Client policies, maintaining broker relationships and delivering high‑quality underwriting service to maximise client retention.

Key responsibilities

• Manage renewals from invitation through to completion.
• Process mid‑term adjustments and cancellations.
• Respond to broker renewal and policy queries efficiently.
• Build and maintain strong broker relationships.
• Apply a pragmatic underwriting approach to maximise retention.
• Serve as a referral point for colleagues with lower underwriting authority.
• Operate within underwriting authority and company guidelines.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver excellent customer outcomes.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and service delivery.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.

Required profile

• Previous underwriting experience in High Net Worth or Non‑Standard Household lines, or strong HNW broking experience with exposure to underwriting.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Strong commercial underwriting judgement.
• Proactive, customer‑focused mindset.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure.
• Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
