University Access Officer

About the role
We are seeking a University Access Officer to work in London, supporting up to four partner schools. The role focuses on mentoring, tuition and coaching to help students from under‑resourced backgrounds gain admission to top universities.
Key responsibilities
- Work directly with students, providing mentoring in a professional and safe manner.
- Engage with school staff, Programme Manager and students to ensure fully enrolled cohorts across all programmes.
- Coordinate programme delivery across allocated schools as the sole on‑site representative.
- Assess student progress towards successful university applications.
- Work proactively with school staff to ensure cooperation and timely completion of activities.
- Present at termly school meetings with senior management to report programme progress.
- Support the wider team by attending university site visits on occasional Saturdays and weekday evenings (paid time off provided).
Required profile
- Experience mentoring groups of students and providing one‑to‑one support.
- Excellent organisation and time‑management abilities.
- Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels.
- Ability to meet deadlines with a problem‑solving mindset.
- Effective prioritisation and independent working in busy school environments.
- Proven relationship‑building with young people and school staff/leaders.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safeguarding young people.
Required skills
What we offer
- Permanent contract with a salary of £29,227.50 per year (including London weighting).
- Full‑time role – 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Paid time off for occasional Saturday and evening university site visits.
