Unqualified English Teacher – SEN Support (Southwark)

About the role

This contract position offers an English graduate the chance to gain classroom experience in a specialist SEN setting. You will deliver engaging English lessons to pupils with Autism, ADHD and other additional learning needs, working alongside experienced SEN staff.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver differentiated English lessons for small groups.
• Adapt teaching methods to suit diverse communication styles and learning profiles.
• Collaborate with SEN teachers, support staff and pastoral teams to support pupil progress.
• Monitor and assess pupil literacy, communication and confidence development.
• Contribute to behaviour support strategies and multidisciplinary team meetings.

Required profile

• BA degree in English, English Literature or a related subject.
• Strong subject knowledge and confidence supporting pupils academically.
• Patience, adaptability and a commitment to inclusive education.
• Ambition to progress towards QTS or a long‑term SEND teaching career.

• Ability to tailor lesson content for varied learning needs.
• Effective communication with pupils, staff and families.
