About the role
This position offers an experienced SEND practitioner the chance to lead learning within a specialist provision for Key Stage 1 pupils in a mainstream primary school. You will work with a small group of 5‑6 children who have high‑level autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and additional needs, supported by two dedicated SEND Teaching Assistants.
Key responsibilities
- Lead learning and structured activities for a KS1 SEND group.
- Support pupils with ASD and communication challenges.
- Collaborate closely with the SENCo to plan learning objectives.
- Deliver engaging, routine‑based lessons that promote emotional regulation.
- Manage and direct the support staff within the provision.
Required profile
- Strong experience supporting pupils with SEND, especially ASD and communication needs.
- Confidence leading small groups or classroom‑style activities.
- Excellent communication and behaviour management abilities.
- Proactive, able to think on your feet and adapt plans.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
