Unqualified Teaching Assistant – Specialist Education (Term‑time)

About the role

We are seeking caring and reliable individuals to join specialist schools and alternative provision settings in Chorley, Leyland and Bamber Bridge as Unqualified Teaching Assistants. The role is term‑time only, Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑3:30 pm, and offers a supportive environment for those who want to build a career in education.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups across primary and secondary levels.
• Assist students with additional learning, communication and emotional needs.
• Create a safe, positive and engaging learning environment.
• Help teachers with classroom activities and behaviour management.
• Encourage confidence, independence and social skills development.
• Adapt support to the specific requirements of each specialist provision.

Required profile

• Personal or professional experience supporting children or adults with additional needs.
• Positive, patient and resilient attitude.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work across schools in the Blackburn, Accrington and Darwen areas.
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) and two years’ employment references.
• Right to work in the UK.
