Upper Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant – Tameside Primary School

About the role

The school is looking for an Upper Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to support Year 5 and Year 6 pupils from September 2026. This full‑time, long‑term placement offers the chance to work in a friendly, inclusive primary school environment in Tameside.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in delivering the Upper KS2 National Curriculum.
• Plan and lead small‑group sessions across a range of subjects.
• Provide targeted interventions to help pupils progress.
• Support classroom management and create a positive learning atmosphere.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil achievement and interventions.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with Upper Key Stage 2 pupils (Years 5 & 6).
• Good understanding of the Upper KS2 National Curriculum.
• Proven ability to deliver focused interventions and small‑group teaching.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Proactive, flexible and enthusiastic approach to supporting teaching and learning.
