About the role
We are recruiting an Upper KS2 Teaching Assistant for a large, welcoming primary school in South Manchester. The role supports pupils in Years 5 and 6, working closely with teachers and the inclusion team to help children achieve academically, socially and emotionally.
Key responsibilities
- Support the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities across Years 5 and 6.
- Work with individuals and small groups to accelerate progress in reading, writing and mathematics.
- Deliver targeted intervention programmes to boost attainment and confidence.
- Provide effective support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Assist teachers with classroom preparation, organisation and resource management.
- Promote positive behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
Required profile
- Experience working with primary‑aged children, ideally within Key Stage 2.
- Good understanding of the primary curriculum and GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics.
- Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3) and First Aid qualification.
- Experience supporting small‑group learning, interventions and SATs preparation for Year 6.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
