VAT Manager

About the role

This position offers the chance to join a fast‑growing professional services firm with a strong UK presence and an extensive international network. As a VAT Manager you will work within a collaborative VAT team, providing high‑quality advisory services to a diverse client base ranging from owner‑managed businesses to large corporates.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of VAT clients across multiple industries, building strong, commercial relationships.
• Advise on cross‑border transactions, international expansion, new product/service VAT treatment, HMRC enquiries and dispute resolution.
• Identify opportunities to convert ad‑hoc queries into broader advisory projects and oversee work‑in‑progress and billing.
• Review technical VAT work, prepare reports, technical memoranda and due‑diligence documentation.
• Provide specialist VAT input to wider projects, including audit‑related matters.
• Support tender proposals and generate new business opportunities.
• Deliver VAT training and technical guidance to junior team members.

Required profile

• Strong VAT advisory experience gained within a practice.
• Excellent technical knowledge of UK VAT legislation.
• Proven ability to manage a client portfolio and deliver profitable work.
• Clear communication skills, able to explain complex VAT matters to non‑specialists.
• High attention to detail and strong report‑writing abilities.
