Vehicle Mechanic – Heavy Military Vehicles (4‑day week)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Vehicle Mechanic to join a specialist engineering team that maintains, repairs and overhauls military vehicles in a secure, professional environment. The position offers a 4‑day working week, optional overtime and clear progression within one of the UK’s leading defence support organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Service, maintain, diagnose and repair a range of heavy military vehicles and associated equipment.
• Carry out fault‑finding on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components.
• Perform vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
• Follow engineering instructions, technical publications and repair procedures.
• Complete maintenance records, inspection reports and supporting documentation.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas to the highest standards.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or a related discipline.
• Proven experience with heavy‑duty, HGV, military or similar vehicles.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience of hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
• Successful DBS and BPSS security checks.
