Vehicle Technician & Workshop Controller – £35‑40k, Mon‑Fri

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Vehicle Technician who is also keen to take on workshop control responsibilities. Based in Fareham, you will work Monday‑Friday supporting a busy automotive workshop and helping to drive efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in day‑to‑day management of a busy automotive workshop.
• Allocate and prioritise work across the workshop team.
• Perform advanced diagnostics, fault finding and road testing.
• Carry out servicing, repairs and MOT preparation (including MOT testing if qualified).
• Collaborate with the Service Advisor to keep customers informed and schedule repairs.
• Monitor workshop productivity and maintain accurate job records.
• Support, coach and supervise technicians to uphold technical standards.
• Deputise for the Workshop Manager when required.
• Drive continuous improvement, workshop efficiency and excellent customer service.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a vehicle technician in an automotive workshop.
• Ability to take on supervisory or workshop control duties.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Good communication with service advisors and customers.

Required skills

• Advanced vehicle diagnostics and fault finding.
• Road testing and MOT preparation.
• Workshop management and job allocation.

What we offer

• Competitive salary £35,000‑£40,000 basic, dependent on experience.
• Monday‑Friday, 8:00‑17:30 working hours.
