Veterinary Surgeon – First Opinion Care in Colchester

About the role
We are seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join Penrose Veterinary Group in Colchester, delivering high‑quality first‑opinion care within a supportive, experienced clinical team.
Key responsibilities
- General consultations and preventative healthcare
- Medical case work‑ups and ongoing management
- Routine soft‑tissue surgery
- Urgent and emergency presentations
- Complex cases such as GDVs, septic abdomens and exploratory laparotomies
Required profile
- Passion for delivering first‑opinion veterinary care
- Ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff and RVNs
- Willingness to develop clinical interests and confidence
Required skills
- Digital radiography
- Ultrasound imaging
- Endoscopy
- Bronchoscopy
- Soft‑tissue surgical techniques
- Emergency case management (GDV, septic abdomen, exploratory laparotomy)
