Vice President – Commodities Operations (Precious Metals)

About the role

This Vice President role leads the end‑to‑end operations of Citi’s precious metals business, overseeing settlement, custody and global logistics. You will work closely with trading desks, sales teams, vault operators and external counterparties to ensure seamless, compliant processing of physical and cleared metal transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and accurately book client and house instructions, maintaining data integrity across all precious metals positions.
• Monitor clearing instructions throughout the trading day, ensuring timely settlement in line with LPMCL conventions and Citi standards.
• Manage physical inventory logistics across Citi’s global vault network, coordinating safe and efficient movement of metal.
• Perform daily reconciliation of physical inventory, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Liaise with logistics and vault providers to obtain competitive quotes and tariffs.
• Monitor credit exposure to LPMCL members, arrange broker allocations and escalate issues to Risk and Credit teams.
• Deliver against risk and control standards while driving continuous process improvement.
• Utilise AI tools and new technologies to streamline the operating model and enhance service delivery.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of global precious metals flows, including LPMCL clearing, Shanghai Gold Exchange and COMEX.
• Experience in risk and inventory management within a commodities operations setting.
• Proven ability to implement new operating models and drive process improvements.
• Excellent attention to detail and a control‑mindset in a high‑pressure environment.
