Visual Storytelling Designer/Illustrator

About the role

Daily Mail is seeking a Visual Storytelling Designer/Illustrator to create compelling illustrations and collages that bring news stories to life across its multi‑platform channels. Working in a fast‑paced newsroom, you will help shape the visual language of the homepage and support editors, video, social and development teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conceptualise and produce original illustrations, collages and visual assets for breaking news and feature stories.
• Adapt visuals for multiple device sizes and formats, ensuring consistency across print, web, video and social platforms.
• Collaborate with graphics, video, social, editorial and development teams to deliver striking visuals.
• Support the Visuals Director in evolving Daily Mail’s visual style and future design direction.
• Manage several projects simultaneously, from urgent news pieces to longer‑term campaigns.

Required profile

• Strong visual imagination with the ability to translate complex subjects into clear, engaging illustrations.
• Excellent eye for detail and ability to work under tight deadlines in a newsroom environment.
• Willingness to collaborate across multiple departments and contribute to the overall visual strategy.

Required skills

• Proficiency in HTML and CSS (basic front‑end development).
• Experience with animation or motion‑design tools, preferably Adobe After Effects.
