VMware Platform Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced VMware Platform Engineer to join a leading Managed Services Provider on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract. This remote position involves hands‑on support and maintenance of VMware‑based platforms across private and public cloud environments, ensuring high availability and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 3rd‑line support for VMware infrastructure and cloud platforms.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Support and maintain VMware ESXi and vCenter environments.
• Ensure platforms meet agreed service‑level targets.
• Follow ITIL‑based incident, problem and change management processes.
• Identify and implement service improvements.
• Carry out upgrades, patching and routine maintenance.
• Assist with customer installations and infrastructure projects.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and knowledge articles.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver high‑quality solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.

Required profile

• Strong experience administering VMware ESXi and vCenter.
• Background in a Managed Services, support or consultancy environment.
• Proven ability to support virtualised infrastructure in production.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Good communication and customer‑facing skills.
