Vocational Instructor – Mechanics & Engineering (Youth Development)

About the role

Join New Chapter Tuition as a Vocational Instructor delivering mechanics and engineering learning to young people aged 11‑18. You will work on a term‑time basis, providing one‑to‑one and small‑group sessions that build confidence, practical ability and positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging vocational lessons in mechanics, engineering and motor‑vehicle topics.
• Provide tailored support to learners with SEMH, ADHD, SEND or challenging behaviour.
• Assess progress and adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.
• Collaborate with senior staff to develop curriculum and share best practices.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive workshop environment.

Required profile

• Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a vocational or youth‑work setting.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Calm, resilient and trauma‑informed approach to challenging behaviour.
• Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
