Volunteer & Befriending Coordinator

About the role

Hestia is seeking a Volunteer & Befriending Coordinator to develop and manage a volunteer befriending service within its Complex Needs Service in Notting Hill. The role is full‑time and based in London, supporting service users to rebuild their lives and achieve independence.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, train and supervise volunteers, ensuring they are prepared and supported.
• Match volunteers with service users, reviewing risk information and ensuring safe placements.
• Promote a service‑user‑centred approach to befriending activities.
• Identify funding opportunities and prepare applications to sustain the volunteer programme.
• Collaborate closely with the Service Manager and wider team to align volunteer work with organisational policies.

Required profile

• Strong organisational abilities and experience planning events on limited budgets.
• Self‑motivated with a passion for developing others.
• Experience supporting individuals with mental health issues.
• Willingness to learn and align with Hestia’s core values of equity, diversity and inclusion.
• Lived experience of the areas supported is valued.
