Volunteer Counsellor – Perinatal Service

About the role

Join Crossreach's Bluebell Perinatal Service as a Volunteer Counsellor, providing professional therapeutic support to individuals navigating perinatal emotional challenges. Training and supervision are provided to ensure safe, ethical practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one counselling sessions to perinatal clients, either in‑person or online.
• Maintain accurate case notes and complete required documentation.
• Participate in group supervision and adhere to Crossreach's ethical guidelines.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to create a safe healing environment.

Required profile

• Completed or currently undertaking a counselling diploma with readiness to practice.
• Minimum 50 clinical hours in perinatal services.
• For online work, completion of an ACTO‑approved online training course.
• Ability to provide details of an external supervisor.
• Willingness to undergo PVG membership verification.

Required skills

• Strong counselling techniques and therapeutic communication.
• Knowledge of perinatal mental health issues.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
