VP Relationship Manager – Japanese Speaking

About the role

This senior position is with a Japanese bank operating in London. The VP Relationship Manager will act as the primary contact for Japanese corporate and Asian institutional clients, ensuring strong relationships, credit oversight, and high levels of client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance business relationships with Japanese corporate customers and Asian corporate/financial institution clients.
• Identify business opportunities, structure transaction teams, manage milestones and drive profitable outcomes.
• Monitor customers' financial conditions, assess credit ratings and ensure appropriate credit exposure.
• Review business plans with clients and manage credit applications and related documentation.
• Control legal and business documents, providing tailored solutions to maximise client satisfaction.
• Build banking relationships within target industries and financial institutions.
• Oversee credit monitoring processes and ensure compliance with internal controls.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of sales and marketing experience in the financial sector.
• Strong analytical skills covering balance sheets, profit & loss, cash flow and credit assessments.
• Good knowledge of corporate, project, trade and treasury finance.
• Fluent in both English and Japanese.
• Degree or professional banking qualification (ACT or equivalent), even if partially completed.
• Excellent communication, compliance awareness and understanding of MiFID II and financial‑crime regulations.
