Waking Night Child Support Worker

About the role

We are looking for compassionate and resilient individuals to join our team as Waking Night Child Support Workers. In this role you will provide overnight care and support to children and young people with SEND and SEMH needs, ensuring they feel safe and supported throughout the night.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality, child‑centred support during waking night shifts.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.
• Support children with SEND, autism, ADHD, learning disabilities and SEMH needs.
• Carry out regular welfare checks and monitor wellbeing throughout the night.
• Assist with personal care, daily living tasks and medication administration as required.
• Manage and de‑escalate challenging behaviours using appropriate techniques.
• Record observations, incidents and safeguarding concerns accurately.
• Complete housekeeping tasks to maintain a safe, homely environment.
• Provide thorough handovers to daytime staff teams.

Required profile

• Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
• Knowledge or experience supporting children with SEND and SEMH needs is highly desirable.
• A calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
• Ability to work independently during night shifts.
• Flexible and reliable with a commitment to delivering high‑quality care.
