Waking Night Support Worker – 24/7 Care

About the role

The Waking Night Support Worker provides 24‑hour assistance to adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs in a specialist supported‑living environment. You will work night shifts, helping residents maintain independence while ensuring safety and wellbeing throughout the night.

Key responsibilities

• Support residents during night hours, responding to personal care and safety needs.
• Encourage participation in meaningful activities and community outings.
• Assist with communication, using appropriate methods for each individual.
• Maintain accurate records of night‑time observations and incidents.
• Collaborate with the day‑time team to ensure seamless care continuity.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for supporting people with learning disabilities, autism or complex needs.
• Ability to work rotational night shifts (37.5 hours per week).
• Good interpersonal skills and respect for diversity and inclusion.
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check and complete induction training.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of assistive technology used to promote independence.
• Effective communication tailored to individual needs.
• Ability to stay calm and make decisions during night‑time emergencies.
