Ward Medicines Assistant – NHS Full‑time Role

About the role

The Ward Medicines Assistant works within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and efficient medication supply on hospital wards. This full‑time position (part‑time may be considered) supports nurses and pharmacists in delivering high‑quality patient‑centred care across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the supply, administration and dispensing of medicines on the ward.
• Use clinical pharmacy systems to support nursing staff and patients.
• Collaborate with the dispensary and clinical pharmacy teams to maintain accurate medication records.
• Provide medication information to patients and staff as required.
• Work a rotating weekend schedule at North Tyneside General Hospital.

Required profile

• Qualified pharmacy dispensing assistant.
• Willingness to work in a patient‑facing, clinical environment.
• Ability to follow safe medication practices and NHS guidelines.
• Flexibility to work weekdays 8:30 am‑5:00 pm and occasional weekends.

Required skills

• Knowledge of medication dispensing processes.
• Familiarity with clinical pharmacy information systems.
• Effective communication with nursing and pharmacy staff.
