Warehouse Mechanical Technician – Test Engineer

About the role

This is a hands‑on, workshop‑based position supporting a well‑established engineering business in the Southampton area. You will be responsible for testing, electrical checks, minor engineering modifications and warehouse duties to ensure specialist equipment is ready for customer use.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out testing of specialist equipment to company standards, including electrical checks on 24VAC, 230V and 400V control panels.
• Identify, report and record faults or issues, maintaining accurate test results and quality standards.
• Perform minor equipment modifications, support installation of components such as pumps and bypass systems, and use hand tools safely.
• Assist with fault finding and technical issue resolution while upholding safety and quality.
• Load and unload delivery vehicles, operate a counterbalance forklift, receive, inspect and store incoming equipment.
• Pick, prepare and securely package equipment for customer orders, keeping the workshop and warehouse organised.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), customer demonstrations, training and occasional service‑team activities.

Required profile

• Experience working with 24VAC, 230V or 400V control panels.
• Background in engineering, manufacturing, electrical, workshop or a similar technical environment.
• Comfortable carrying out testing and following technical procedures.
• Strong practical problem‑solving ability and attention to detail.

• Operation of a counterbalance forklift.
