Warehouse Operative – Afternoon Shift

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a well‑established industrial and distribution business for an experienced Warehouse Operative to join the afternoon shift team in Poynton. This temp‑to‑perm position offers stable Monday‑to‑Friday hours, competitive pay and the chance to develop a long‑term career in a fast‑paced warehouse environment.

Key responsibilities

• Safely operate overhead gantry cranes using radio remote and pendant controls (training provided where required).
• Load and unload materials from incoming and outgoing vehicles following site safety procedures.
• Store, retrieve and organise stock in designated warehouse locations.
• Carry out pre‑use checks on equipment, machinery, lifting gear and vehicles, recording results.
• Operate mobile plant equipment such as forklifts, side loaders and other material‑handling vehicles when authorised.
• Support stock‑control activities and assist with regular inventory checks.
• Accurately update picking documentation and order records.
• Prioritise customer orders and dispatch requirements to maximise operational efficiency.
• Conduct load and quality checks prior to dispatch to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and comply with all health‑and‑safety procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Familiarity with operating overhead cranes, forklifts or similar equipment is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail when handling stock and completing paperwork.
• Reliable, hardworking and committed to high operational standards.
• Flexibility to undertake additional warehouse duties as required.
