Waste and Recycling Operative – Plant Operator

About the role

You will join Biogen as a Waste and Recycling Operative (Plant Operator) to support the safe operation of an Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant. The role is hands‑on, involving the intake, weighing, off‑loading and cleaning of delivery vehicles, as well as sorting and loading food waste on site.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with safe operation of the AD plant and related equipment.
• Receive, weigh, off‑load and clean vehicles delivering food waste.
• Sort and load food waste for processing.
• Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance activities.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, cleanliness and compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.

Required profile

• Positive attitude towards health & safety and regulatory compliance (HSE, Environment Agency).
• Relevant experience in waste, recycling, or a similar industrial environment.
• Valid driving licence.
• Willingness to work a rotating shift pattern, Monday‑Friday and weekends, with overtime paid.

Required skills

• Telehandler operation (certificate advantageous, training provided if not held).
• Driving licence.
