Waste Project Officer

About the role
The Waste Project Officer will join Buckinghamshire Council’s Strategic Waste Management team to drive improvements in recycling, waste treatment and Household Recycling Centres. You will work at the centre of service transformation, supporting commissioning, contract management and infrastructure projects that deliver tangible environmental benefits.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and support projects that enhance waste treatment, disposal services and recycling facilities.
- Assist in the development and management of new disposal contracts and infrastructure upgrades.
- Secure external funding and prepare business cases for waste‑related initiatives.
- Collaborate with contractors, consultants, regulators and other stakeholders to ensure project delivery.
- Monitor project performance, budgets and timelines to ensure value for money.
Required profile
- Proactive, motivated and able to work on a variety of tasks day‑to‑day.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to engage with multiple stakeholders.
- Interest in environmental improvement and sustainable service delivery.
