Waste Segregation Officer – Fratton (Temporary)

About the role

You will join a growing waste management team, providing holiday and sickness cover for a customer site in Fratton. The role starts immediately and runs Monday to Saturday, 07:00‑13:00, helping customers separate refuse from recycling to protect the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, sort and place waste into the correct recycling and non‑recycling bins.
• Operate waste handling equipment such as compactors and balers safely.
• Load and unload waste containers using proper lifting techniques.
• Maintain clean and hazard‑free waste areas.
• Conduct routine inspections of storage zones and report any issues.
• Communicate with customers on‑site to resolve queries or special requirements.

Required profile

• Reliability and good communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail when sorting waste.
• Willingness to help customers achieve a cleaner environment.
• Physical capability to handle lifting and equipment operation.

Required skills

• Safety boots and high‑visibility clothing.
• Operation of waste handling equipment (compactors, balers).
• Basic mechanical knowledge.
