Waste Water Adoptions Engineer

About the role
The Waste Water Adoptions Engineer will act as the key liaison between developers, groundworkers and our client to ensure that adoptable wastewater infrastructure is installed to the required standards. You will spend a significant amount of time in the field, inspecting and surveying sewers as they are laid and producing detailed reports.
Key responsibilities
- Provide support to the Head of Waste Water on regional adoption enquiries and assist with budget planning.
- Attend pre‑start meetings with developers and contractors to align installation with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct site inspections, pre‑maintenance checks, snagging, and final inspections in line with the Water Act, DCG and AWIN standards.
- Oversee air and water testing of new sewer installations and ensure successful outcomes.
- Lead technical assurance for testing, commissioning and performance validation of sewers, pumping stations, rising mains and SuDS features.
- Integrate newly adopted assets into the company GIS system and maintain accurate records.
- Advise developers on engineering solutions for complex installations and manage health & safety risk assessments.
- Develop policies and processes for asset adoption and ongoing maintenance.
Required profile
- Proven experience in the water industry, particularly wastewater.
- Strong understanding of the S104 adoption process and related legislation.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct field inspections and produce clear technical reports.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting and contract handover activities.
Required skills
- GIS – ability to update and manage spatial data for wastewater assets.
- Knowledge of the Water Act, DCG and AWIN requirements.
- Technical reporting and risk assessment skills.
