Water Construction Technician

About the role

Join Severn Trent’s £415 million Midlands water‑pipes renewal programme as a Water Construction Technician. You will work on large‑scale mains renewal projects, delivering new pipe installations that will serve millions for up to a century.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑site checks and risk assessments with the Network Construction Manager.
• Carry out excavation, pipe installation, testing, commissioning and valve operations on assigned sites.
• Conduct chlorination, sampling, flushing and cleansing of water mains and hydrants following SOPs and Safe Systems of Work.
• Install and oversee pressure control valves, manage pressure, flow and disinfection processes.
• Collaborate with Network Control, Lead Operative and other construction operatives throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Experience in large‑scale water‑infrastructure construction or similar civil‑engineering environments.
• Ability to work safely on site, follow detailed procedures and manage risks.
• Willingness to work a 42‑hour week, Monday‑Friday, with an early finish on Fridays.
