Weekend Maintenance Technician – Student Accommodation

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Maintenance Technician to provide weekend cover for a modern student accommodation in Edinburgh city centre. The role runs on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer, offering hands‑on experience in a vibrant, residential environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the property’s appearance, cleanliness and functionality at all times.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks in line with service standards.
• Perform basic repairs, minor redecoration and upkeep of communal areas.
• Support and liaise with external contractors when required.
• Manage waste areas, ensuring bins are tidy and rotated properly.
• Conduct routine health & safety checks, including fire safety and risk assessments.
• Assist with legionella testing and related compliance tasks.

Required profile

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities or security is desirable.
• Hands‑on, proactive approach with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Good awareness of health & safety practices.
• Relevant trade qualification is an advantage but not essential.
