Welding Engineer – Heavy Manufacturing

About the role

The role will oversee and optimise welding processes for heavy engineering manufacturing projects, ensuring weld quality, performance efficiency and timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, develop and improve welding procedures to ensure quality, integrity and compliance with standards.
• Provide technical welding support across projects and conduct R&D to enhance weld properties.
• Identify and implement new welding technologies, materials and techniques.
• Analyse and improve welding productivity and efficiency.
• Manage welding procedures and welder qualification portfolios.
• Authorise and manage welding‑related documentation and procedures.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, production, QA/QC teams, suppliers and clients.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline; professional registration (CEng or IEng) highly desirable.
• IWE/EWE Diploma qualified or near completion with substantial experience.
• Strong technical expertise in mechanised SAW, MAG/GMAW and MMA/SMAW welding processes.
• Experience in high‑volume heavy manufacturing or fabrication environments.
• Proven experience as a Welding Engineer with solid understanding of welding safety standards and quality assurance.
• Knowledge of metallurgy and material selection.
