Wellbeing Assistant – SEN Specialist School

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate Wellbeing Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a specialist SEN school in Ringwood. Working closely with the Wellbeing Manager, you will deliver targeted interventions that help pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1‑to‑1 and small‑group support for conflict resolution, anger management, bereavement, stress and anxiety.
• Use grounding, mindfulness and self‑help strategies to promote emotional regulation and resilience.
• Liaise with parents and carers, chair parent meetings and conduct home visits when required.
• Collaborate with local agencies, act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and maintain up‑to‑date safeguarding knowledge.
• Support attendance initiatives alongside the Attendance Officer and assist with pupil transitions.
• Maintain accurate CPOMS/SIMS records of wellbeing and safeguarding activity.
• Assess SEMH needs, coordinate referrals to Early Help, CAMHS, MASH and other agencies.
• Participate in Child Protection, CIN and Early Help meetings and organise wellbeing events such as parent coffee mornings.

Required profile

• Right to work in the UK and willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
• Professional references covering the last 24 months.
• Experience in SEMH support, safeguarding, pastoral care or family liaison.
• Understanding of multi‑agency working and safeguarding procedures.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CPOMS and SIMS record‑keeping systems.

What we offer

• Full‑time, long‑term contract (08:30‑15:30) with potential permanent progression.
• Salary from £21,000 to £23,000 per year.
• Free accredited CPD, including safeguarding training.
