Wellbeing & Safeguarding Support Officer (Maternity Cover)

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Wellbeing & Safeguarding Support Officer to join a forward‑thinking UTC on a part‑time maternity cover basis. The role starts in September, working 21 hours per week (Monday‑Wednesday) during term time plus two additional weeks.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of safeguarding concerns and support vulnerable students.
• Monitor and respond to CPOMS safeguarding alerts.
• Liaise with staff, families and external professionals to ensure appropriate support.
• Attend meetings, contribute to interventions and support referrals/EHAs.
• Undertake training and actively contribute to a safe school culture.

Required profile

• Experience in a safeguarding, pastoral or similar role.
• Confident communication with young people and adults.
• Understanding of safeguarding procedures within a school setting.
• Empathetic, organised and committed to inclusion and equality.
• Enhanced DBS clearance.

Required skills

• CPOMS (safeguarding management system).
