Works Manager / Site Manager – Manchester

About the role
Bethell Construction is seeking a Works Manager/Site Manager to lead highway construction projects in the Manchester/Greater Manchester area. This permanent position offers continuity of work across long‑term frameworks in the North West.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in managing key project deliverables while ensuring compliance with quality, health, safety and environmental standards.
- Maintain an organised, clean site layout that reflects a positive image of the company and its clients.
- Conduct regular site inspections, keep accurate records, diaries, photographs and upload documentation to company servers.
- Perform weekly checks of all plant and equipment, reporting discrepancies to the Plant Department.
- Promote high morale among the workforce and act as an ambassador for the company.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a site supervisory role within highways, excavation, groundworks, concreting or drainage.
- Gold Card CSCS, SMSTS (5‑day) and 3‑day First Aid accreditations.
- Full clean driving licence.
- HNC/HND or degree in a construction‑related discipline.
- Temporary Works Supervisor, NRSWA Supervisor/Lantra 12D and SEATS accreditations.
- Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and NEC contract forms.
- Motivational leader with the ability to maintain workforce morale.

- Construction‑related HNC/HND or degree
- Temporary Works Supervisor accreditation

- Knowledge of CDM regulations
- Understanding of NEC contracts
