Workshop Engineer – Birmingham

About the role

The Workshop Engineer will carry out inspections, safety checks and day‑to‑day service, repair and maintenance of forklift trucks, handling equipment and plant. The role focuses on fault finding, achieving first‑fix targets and preparing new equipment while minimizing downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform inspections and safety checks in line with industry regulations.
• Service, repair and maintain forklift trucks, handling equipment and plant.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs to meet first‑fix targets.
• Prepare new equipment and source parts from internal or external suppliers.
• Communicate efficiently to minimise equipment downtime.

Required profile

• Full UK driving licence.
• GCSE grade C or above in English and maths.
• Experience with health and safety requirements in a workshop environment.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team and meet tight deadlines.

• Mechanical engineering knowledge.
