Workshop Fleet Technician

About the role

The Vehicle Management Unit is seeking a Workshop Fleet Technician to join a vibrant, on‑site workshop environment. Working Monday to Friday, you will be up‑skilled on new products and receive training to enhance efficiency and career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out inspections on a diverse fleet including HGVs, refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, hook loaders, vans, trailers and tippers.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance, MOT preparation and scheduled servicing to DVSA standards.
• Conduct 6‑ or 8‑weekly inspections and correct running defects.
• Undertake chassis and fabrication work, hydraulics and pneumatics repairs, and improve overall vehicle standards.
• Execute electrical and wiring inspections and necessary corrections.

Required profile

• Qualified and time‑served HGV Technician with a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanics.
• Fully qualified (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent); additional IRTEC accreditation and HGV Class 1 licence are desirable.
• Strong attitude and commitment to delivering first‑class client service.
