Workshop Foreman

About the role

The Workshop Foreman will lead the Engineering department at our South East depot, overseeing Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Workshop Engineers and Labourers. You will ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment while supporting customer site activities and out‑of‑hours call‑outs.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain equipment to safety and compliance standards and company policies.
• Enforce health and safety procedures and promote proactive risk management.
• Keep the workshop clean, organised and efficient in line with regulatory requirements.
• Supervise and support depot‑based engineers and labourers, aligning team objectives with company goals.
• Conduct performance reviews, identify development needs and deliver targeted training.
• Attend customer site surveys, installations and breakdowns as directed.
• Provide out‑of‑hours call‑out support as part of the depot rota.
• Coordinate diagnostics, servicing and repairs to ensure equipment readiness.
• Monitor stock levels of products, cables and related assets.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar foreman or supervisory role within the equipment hire or engineering sector.
• Strong engineering background with solid organisational and multi‑tasking abilities.
• Demonstrated experience leading a team of engineers.
• Good understanding of compliance, safety and regulatory standards.
• Full UK driving licence.
