Workshop HGV Engineer – Full‑time Day Shift

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Workshop HGV Engineer to join a leading fleet solutions provider. The role is based in Shepton Mallet and operates on permanent day‑shift patterns, offering a competitive salary and overtime.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine and preventative maintenance on a diverse fleet including HGVs, refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, hook loaders, vans, trailers and tippers.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and perform scheduled servicing to DVSA standards.
• Conduct 6‑ or 8‑weekly inspections, diagnose and correct running defects.
• Perform chassis and fabrication work, as well as hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical wiring repairs.
• Improve vehicle standards through upgrades and corrective actions.

Required profile

• Fully qualified (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent) HGV technician.
• Additional accreditation such as IRTEC is desirable.
• Valid HGV Class 1 licence preferred.
• Proven experience with commercial vehicle mechanical systems.

Required skills

• Hydraulics and pneumatic systems maintenance.
• Electrical wiring inspection and repair.
• Chassis fabrication and repair.
• MOT preparation and DVSA‑compliant servicing.
• Routine inspections and defect correction.
