Workshop Manager

About the role

Grundon is seeking a dynamic Workshop Manager to lead its Fleet Workshop in Bishops Cleeve, with occasional support for the Bristol depot. You will be responsible for ensuring the workshop delivers high‑quality, safe, and efficient service to keep the fleet operational and aligned with the company’s sustainability goals.

Key responsibilities

• Inspire and manage a team of HGV Technicians and a Workshop Supervisor, fostering a high‑performing environment.
• Own the fleet maintenance system (R2C) and oversee LOLER inspection processes to maintain compliance.
• Ensure accurate vehicle documentation sign‑off in line with company policy and legal requirements.
• Minimise vehicle downtime by proactively managing availability and scheduling maintenance.
• Maintain workshop safety, organisation, and cleanliness standards.
• Strategically allocate labour resources to optimise efficiency and output.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar managerial role within a workshop or fleet environment.
• Current HGV licence (minimum Class 2) and solid understanding of tachograph systems.
• Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds HGV Parts 1‑3, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Hands‑on technical expertise across hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Customer‑focused mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities.
