Workshop Technician – Maintenance of Tractors & Trailers

About the role
We are looking for a Workshop Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on port‑based equipment such as terminal tractors and trailers. The role ensures all machinery remains safe, functional and compliant with health and safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain and repair terminal tractors and trailers.
- Carry out welding and fabrication tasks as required.
- Fit, replace and service wheels, tyres and related components.
- Manage spare‑parts inventory, including ordering and stock control.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify faults and prevent breakdowns.
- Complete accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Support general site maintenance duties as needed.
Required profile
- Proven experience in vehicle or plant maintenance, preferably in an industrial setting.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to working hours and willingness to work overtime.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for site travel).
Required skills
- Welding and fabrication.
- Mechanical maintenance of heavy vehicles (tractors, trailers).
- Diagnostics and repair of plant equipment.
- Spare‑parts inventory management.
What we offer
- £16.30 per hour basic rate, £24.45 per hour overtime (1.5×).
- Full‑time Monday‑to‑Friday schedule, 7 am‑4 pm.
- Temporary contract through Adecco.
