Workshop Vehicle Engineer (HGV Technician)

About the role

Our client is seeking a Workshop Vehicle Engineer (HGV Technician) to join their day‑shift workshop team in Uxbridge. You will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet that includes heavy goods vehicles, refuse collection trucks, road sweepers, hook loaders and light commercial vans.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance and MOT preparation.
• Carry out servicing to DVSA standards and 6‑ or 8‑weekly safety inspections.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Conduct chassis and fabrication work, including welding and structural repairs.
• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Execute electrical diagnostics, wiring and repairs.
• Continuously improve vehicle standards and documentation.

Required profile

• Recognised qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of commercial vehicle mechanics.
• Proactive attitude with a commitment to high‑quality workmanship.
• Desirable but not essential: IRTEC accreditation, EV/Hybrid qualifications, HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence.
