Year 1 (KS1) Teacher – 12‑Month Maternity Cover

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Year 1 (KS1) teacher to cover a 12‑month maternity leave at a well‑regarded primary school in St Albans. The role starts on 1 September 2026 and offers immediate trial days for candidates with an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons for a Year 1 class.
• Work closely with a dedicated Teaching Assistant and a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant.
• Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
• Maintain high standards of pupil achievement, behaviour and wellbeing.
• Contribute to the collaborative teaching team and school community.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Recent experience teaching Year 1 or Key Stage 1.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
• Experience supporting children with diverse learning needs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Positive, enthusiastic approach.
