About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a well‑respected primary school in St Albans to hire a Year 1 Teacher on a full‑time, 12‑month temporary contract starting September 2026. The school prides itself on an inclusive ethos, supportive leadership and a commitment to every child’s potential.

Key responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for a Year 1 class, delivering engaging, creative lessons.
• Plan and implement curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
• Use effective assessment strategies to monitor progress and support achievement.
• Maintain excellent classroom and behaviour management.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents and the wider school community.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory.
• Recent experience teaching within Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Commitment to an inclusive, nurturing learning environment.
• Passion for supporting children academically, socially and emotionally.
