Year 1 Supply Teacher – Primary School (Southampton)

About the role

Reed Education is seeking enthusiastic Year 1 supply teachers for primary schools across Southampton and the wider Hampshire region. This temporary, full‑time role offers immediate placement in classrooms, allowing you to support young learners while gaining experience in a variety of school settings.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the Year 1 curriculum in accordance with school policies.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour and support pupil wellbeing.
• Adapt lesson plans quickly to suit each school's timetable and resources.
• Provide accurate attendance and basic assessment records as required.

Required profile

• Relevant classroom experience, preferably with Year 1 pupils.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management abilities.
• Adaptability to work across different schools and settings.
• Professional, proactive attitude and willingness to follow school procedures.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Required skills

• Effective classroom management techniques.
• Ability to deliver the national curriculum for Year 1.
• Clear communication with pupils, staff, and parents.
