Year 1 Teacher – Full-Time (Manchester)

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a friendly, inclusive primary school in Manchester for a Year 1 Teacher to start in September. The successful candidate will guide pupils as they move from Early Years Foundation Stage into Key Stage 1, fostering a love of learning and supporting early reading development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned lessons for Year 1.
• Provide high‑quality phonics instruction and early reading interventions.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of pupils with SEND and EAL.
• Monitor progress through ongoing assessment and adapt teaching strategies.
• Maintain a positive, well‑managed classroom environment.
• Collaborate with parents and staff to optimise outcomes for every child.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (early career teachers are welcome).
• Strong knowledge of phonics programmes such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.
• Effective behaviour management and relationship‑building skills.
• Commitment to supporting each child’s academic and personal development.
