Year 1 Teacher

About the role

A welcoming primary school in Islington is seeking an enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join the team from September 2026. The role focuses on guiding pupils through the transition from EYFS to Key Stage 1, delivering high‑quality teaching and supporting pupil wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
• Prepare pupils for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check using effective phonics instruction.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress, ensuring strong academic outcomes.
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
• Collaborate with the KS1 team to maintain high teaching standards.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching in Key Stage 1, preferably in a Year 1 class.
• Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and EYFS transition.
• High expectations for behaviour, achievement and pupil progress.
• Commitment to contributing to the wider life of the school.

Required skills

• Knowledge of phonics programmes such as Little Wandle.
• Knowledge of phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc.
