Year 1 Teacher (Maternity Cover) – Hayes

About the role

This is a full‑time, fixed‑term position covering maternity leave for a Year 1 class in a well‑established three‑form entry primary school in Hayes. The role runs from late September 2026 to July 2027 and offers the chance to work within a supportive, collaborative Key Stage 1 team.

Key responsibilities

• Take responsibility for a Year 1 class, planning and delivering lessons aligned to the National Curriculum.
• Provide high‑quality phonics teaching and assessment.
• Support pupils in developing literacy and numeracy skills.
• Monitor progress, adapt teaching strategies and differentiate to meet individual needs.
• Collaborate with parallel teachers and contribute to shared planning.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
• Experience teaching in Key Stage 1, preferably Year 1.
• Good understanding of phonics and early reading.
• High expectations for behaviour and achievement.
• Organised, reliable and committed to pupil progress.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
