Year 1 Teacher – Primary School in Islington

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Islington from September 2026. The role involves delivering the Key Stage 1 curriculum and fostering a love of learning in a supportive, inclusive classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the National Curriculum for Year 1.
• Prepare pupils for the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check through high‑quality phonics teaching.
• Monitor pupil progress and use assessment data to inform planning.
• Create a positive, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
• Collaborate with the KS1 team and senior leaders to maintain high standards.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching within Key Stage 1, preferably Year 1.
• Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum and transition from EYFS.
• Knowledge of phonics programmes such as Little Wandle or Read Write Inc.
• Commitment to high expectations for behaviour, achievement and pupil progress.

Required skills

• Proficiency with phonics programmes (e.g., Little Wandle, Read Write Inc.).
